ADDICT
ADDICT is an evening-length, collaborative performance featuring original poetry, music, and design that explores portrayals of addiction in American mass media. The work challenges harmful stereotypes and societal assumptions, while offering a hopeful perspective that those struggling with addiction are worthy of love, respect, and understanding—reminding us that their struggles are not so different from our own.
The premiere of ADDICT was is in partnership with Helping Up Mission, a Baltimore nonprofit that provides resources to people experiencing homelessness, poverty, or addiction. After two sold-out nights, over $4,000 in ticket proceeds went to Helping Up Mission’s “Inspiring Hope” campaign, which was an expansion project to build a new center in Baltimore specifically for women and children affected by addiction.
