GRIDLOCK Dance Audition

Join us on Saturday, August 3 from 9:00am-12:00pm at Dance Exchange for our annual audition.

GRIDLOCK Dance is seeking dynamic and virtuosic dancers to fill paid contract positions. Prospective dancers must show an interest in an investigative process that includes an open mind and a willingness to work in a collaborative group environment. 

Movers of all gender identities and expressions aged 18+ with strong backgrounds in modern dance, contact improvisation, and partnering are encouraged to apply. There is no fee to audition.

AUDITION SCHEDULE:
9:00-9:15am: Introductions, Overview, Q&A
9:15-10:00am: Guided Warmup 
10:00-11:00am: First Round
11:00-11:45am: Second Round
11:45-12:00pm: Review of Next Steps

PAYMENT: 
Our ultimate goal at GRIDLOCK Dance is to hire our dancers full-time. As we work toward that goal, we’re committed to paying our dancers as best we can. All GRIDLOCK Dance company members are paid $20 an hour for rehearsals and performances, and can attend our weekly class at CityDance for free.

COMPANY SCHEDULE: 
The selected dancers must be available for class and rehearsals on Mondays from 6:30-9:00pm at CityDance Friendship Heights. Selected dancers must also be available for a residency at Montgomery College’s Cultural Arts Center, tech rehearsals, and performances from the first week of September to the last week of October, 2024 (exact dates/times TBD). Additional engagements are in process and availability will be discussed. One-year contracts will be provided and renewed at the discretion of the Artistic Director.
